The quarterfinals of The Voice: Season 3 will air this week on NBC. There are two contestants on Team Blake vying to be the winner, one of which we spoke to recently. Terry McDermott, a native of Scotland who now resides in New Orleans, was wanted by three of the four judges in the blind auditions: Blake, Adam Levine and Cee Lo. Why did he choose to be a membe of Team Blake? "I've seen him on season two, and his interaction with the contestants on his team was very positive," Terry says. "To be honest, it looked like fun working with him. Plus, I had my wife tap me on the shoulder says that's the choice to make. My wife's a bit of an expert on Country Music, which is why I know as much as I do."
Terry says Blake has helped him to stick to his strength. "There's always the temptation for people in the show to think, 'I have to be so versatile and do 50 things,' but I think the point he made was that you've got an opportunity here to really show people your strength and purity of your voice. Stick to it, and make it work."
Speaking of Blake, we asked him recently if he's influenced by the show's producers when it comes to the blind auditions.Blake says, "None of us that I know of wear any ear piece, except for Carson. But on occasion, they'll come to us if we're not picking anybody, and it's gone on for two hours, they come out and be like, 'You know you let a bunch of good people go there.' And they'll say something like, 'Well, now that you've let all those go, don't be so trigger happy with this next bunch, because they may not be that good.' They plant those kind of seeds in your head."
Catch The Voice this Monday and Tuesday at 8pm/7pm Central on NBC.
